Senior Parking Spots Vandalized

Seniors are awash with frustration after vandals burned tire marks on their personalized parking spots. About five parking spots were damaged, including those rented by Deja Sanchez, Lilly Castillo and Briana Barajas.

“I worked hard on my spot,” Sanchez said. “I’m annoyed because it took me a lot of time in the heat to paint [my spot], and I used all of my money.”

More than 50 seniors paid for the right to paint their rented parking spot as part of a fundraiser for the senior class.

“It was as if they did donuts on our spots,” Sanchez said. “I knew the spot wasn’t [going to] stay perfect forever, but for someone to actually do this and think it’s funny is messed up.”

After recognizing the damage, seniors went to an administrator and learned that nothing could be done because the damage was done outside of school hours.

“Whoever did this needs to grow up,” Sanchez said. “We’re in high school. It’s not that hard to leave people and their hard work alone.”

Although they will likely never know who damaged their spots, the seniors have responded positively.

“It’s done and over with,” Sanchez said. “I just hope it doesn’t happen again.”
