Holiday date ideas

Patty Castillo, Reporter

Holiday romance films set up expectations for the perfect snowy date every year. Going shopping or having a romantic dinner are some common holiday date ideas. Instead of going on a typical holiday date, try some of these ideas:

  • Go ice-skating: Depending on the environment you live in, visit an indoor or outdoor skating rink. It is a great reason to have a good laugh with your significant other.

  • Attend a festival: Many states hold a festival for each holiday. Most festivals charge a small admission fee or let the public in for free. Bringing a snack or a full picnic basket can add to the fun and help you save money.

  • Take a light tour: There are different spots in the neighborhood and city specifically designed for the holiday season, where the public can view special Christmas decorations and light tours. Take your loved one to see the bright lights during nighttime for a spectacular sight.

If you are not a fan of going out or doing much for the holidays, take a break and sit down and watch some of these classics:

  • White Christmas: A successful song-and-dance team and a sister act, team up to save a failing Vermont Inn.
  • Elf: After accidently wreaking havoc on the elf community, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the U.S. in search of his true identity.
  • Love Actually: The movie follows the lives of eight different couples in dealing with their love lives in various tales all set during the hectic month of December before Christmas in London, England.
